The chariot pit is used for the accessory burial of Liang Ji (M2012). The plane of the tomb is rectang ular. It has a length of 10.3 meters from south to north, a remnant of width of 5.02-5.36 meters from east to west, and a depth of 1.6 meters. There were 19 chariots in the pit. The chariots, wooden in quality, were orderly placed in three lines from west to east: the western line had 8 chariots, the middle line had 7 chariots and the eastern line only had 4 chariots. Horses were placed under every chariot. The remains under the chariots haven't been cleaned up because of the display and protection for these chariots in the pit. According to the rate of two horses matching one chariot, there were 19 chariots and 38 horses buried in the pit. |
